Review: Buddy - MK Theatre - 26/09/2011

"The show held the audiences' attention every second"

by Jenny Stimpson, Writer & Editor

What a fantastic show Buddy was, although a tragic story, from the moment the curtain was raised, right up until the end, the show held the audiences' attention every second. Buddy, played by Glen Joseph looked and sounded uncannily like 'Buddy Holly', impersonating his mannerisms perfectly.

His guitar playing was unreal and the rapport and banter throughout the performance between all of the musicians was both funny and touching. Miguel Angel who played Ritchie Valens and Melissa Keyes who played several different roles were both amazing singers, melissa was extremely funny in some of the scenes, which brought many laughs!

The well known songs, Raining in my Heart, That'll be the day, Chantilly Lace and of course the popular 'Peggy Sue' and many more went down a storm with the audience and you could hear a pin drop in the theatre while Buddy was singing the poignant 'Heartbeat' and 'True Love Ways'
