YouTube gives $100 million to content creators

Partners include Celebrities, Production Companies and Media Groups

YouTube have partnered up with around 100 different content creators to allow them to deliver around 25 hours of new original content a day.

The online video company which was launched in 2005 and receives around 3 billion views a day are giving more than $100 million to various producers for them to create YouTube Channels full of new content. YouTube expect to see that money back pretty quickly, which will come in the form of advertising revenue it will generate.

The YouTube partners will be a collection of Celebrities, Production Companies and Media Groups who will receive as much as $5 million per channel, Celebrities include Ashton Kutcher, Madonna, Rainn Wilson and NBA star Shaquille O'Neal and most of them will be creating content through their own production companies.

Apart from wanting to deliver more original content to its users, YouTube has faced problems in the past with companies such as Fox, Walt Disney and ABC blocking some content, so this deal means that companies should receive the appropriate fair revenues for the content YouTubers watch.
