Twitter 'Offers world mood clues'

It has been difficult for scientists to investigate changes in mood

Researchers trawled through over half a billion tweets looking for mood changes across days and seasons.

They came to a conclusion that people start off brightly but as there day goes by, their mood deteriorates with a late boost in the evening.

Quite predictable but on weekends, Saturday and Sundays, people tend to be happier than during the week.

Changes in the hours of daylight also had an effect aswell.

It has been difficult for scientists to investigate changes in mood. The authors of this study argue that traditional laboratory tests are limited as they are based on university students self-reporting their mood.

Take a look at your tweets throughout a day and see how your mood changes, does this study reflect well on you?
