When 15 year old Paige Chivers disappeared more than four years ago, her friends and family hoped she would return home safe welcomed by those who loved her, but today her disappearance has been declared a murder investigation.After four years searching for the young girl Lancashire Police have revealed that there have been no confirmed sightings since she vanished. There are no signs or proof that Paige is still alive. Leading the investigation is Det Supt Dermott Horrigan who believes they have "exhausted potential leads" with regards to Paiges disappearance.
"Lancashire Police keeps all cases under continuing review and has taken the decision based on the evidence available and length of time that Paige has been missing."
"We remain committed to finding out the truth about what has happened to Paige."
In August 2007 at the age of 15 Paige Chivers disappeared from her home in Bispham, Blackpool, after having a family row, Paige would now be 20 years old. She was due to inherit a substantial sum of money when she it was her 18th birthday, the inheritance would come from the previous death of her mother.
There have been four previous arrests for suspicion of Paige's murder but each arrest has lead to a release without a charge. Det Supt Dermott Horrigan believes it is not too late for people with information to come forward.
