"You're So Boring" is an angst-ridden, yet ultimately empowering song written from the perspective of a woman trapped in a dull, dead-end relationship that explodes into an uncontrollable release of emotion.
In contrast to the jazzy, sample based hip-hop vibes of first single "The Daddy Remix", "You're So Boring" is a distorted guitar, synth and beats based stomper. Its indie-pop overtones and energetic live instrumentation may surprise a lot of listeners and it certainly demonstrates the diversity of Niko's musical influences.
The single was recorded and produced by Manchester based Andy Kingslow whose credits include production work for Mr Scruff and writing the soundtrack to the popular BBC TV children's show Rasta-Mouse. Niko's long time friends and production wizards Andy Turner (aka Aim) and Gripper mixed the track and added the finishing touches.
Where "The Daddy Remix" reflects Niko's fun-loving, care-free side, "You're So Boring" reveals a deeper, darker edge and this contrast, alluded to in its title "Hate & Love", runs throughout the new album.
