The singer had previously cancelled a performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London in October, again following advice from his doctors. The cancellation in October was due to a viral infection.
George is "responding to treatment and slowly improving" according to his publicist and discussions are being held to reschedule his remaining 14 tour dates that have been cancelled.
This latest ailment raises concern over George's well-being and leaves devoted fans wondering if his health is worse than what is being revealed? In a statement the star's spokesperson said "George Michael is ill with pneumonia and any other speculation regarding his illness is unfounded and untrue." She went on to say "He is receiving excellent medical care, he is responding to treatment and slowly improving."
Speaking on behalf of the Vienna hospital treating George, Professor Dr Christoph Zielinski and Professor Dr Thomas Staudinger reported that "George Michael has severe community acquired pneumonia and is being treated as an inpatient." George's doctors have advised him not to preform the rest of his 'Symphonica' tour but to take full and complete rest instead, to ensure that he fully recovers and no complications arise.
The 'Symphonica' tour was set for Europe and started off in Prague this August. Originally meant to consist of 47 concerts, the tour was due to come to the UK on Saturday continuing until the 19th of December.
George's condition has stabilised and he is reported to be responding well to treatment but his doctors cannot estimate his recovery time as of yet only saying that he will "not be able to perform the rest of the tour. Besides medical treatment, complete rest and peace and quiet are mandatory."
We wish George a speedy recovery and hope that his recent ill health is not a sign of something worse. Hopefully when he recovers George will be able to finish his tour and reassure his fans that he is okay.
