Kara Swisher reports Facebook to be the world's most popular social network and says it is close to One billion users. Zuckerberg recognises that Facebook may never have achieved this popularity if he hadn't moved to Palo Alto stating "I knew nothing, so I had to be out here. Facebook would not have worked had I stayed in Boston," Zuckerberg said Saturday during an onstage conversation at Stanford University with Y Combinator's Jessica Livingston at an event called Startup School. "But I think that now, knowing more of what I know, I think I might have been able to pull it off."
Even though he owes Facebooks success to Silicon Valley he still feels that "It has a short-term mentality". Adding "You don't have to move out here to do this". But is this true? The money, connections, advice and power that the Valley has to offer can only truely be found there as many other places try to replicate it's success but have not succeeded.
Silicon Valley is home to Facebook, Apple, Oracle and Google, giants in their fields. Zuckerberg was at one point terrified that "Google was about to build our product" but then mocked them laughing as he said "And look how long it took for them to build our product" in reference to Goggle+. Zuckerberg knows he will never have another idea as good as Facebook.
