For anyone using OS X, iOS or Android, you have Dennis to thank

It's only been a short while since Apple's Co-Founder Steve Jobs passed away and another sad day comes for the Tech World, as Dennis Ritchie, the Creator of the C Language passes away aged 70.

For anyone using Apple's OS X, Apple's iOS (AKA Apple iPhone) or Android, you have Dennis to thank for what you hold in your hands, many Microsoft Windows Applications were also developed using the C Language that Dennis created.

Dennis Ritchie was born on September the 9th 1941 in Bronxville, New York and was widely known as the computer scientist who developed the C Language, that many of us have and still rely on. Many other computer programming languages that followed were highly influenced by the work that Dennis did.

For many years Dennis was the head of Lucent Technologies System Software Research Department, but retired in 2007.

In 1983, Dennis received the Turing Award, in 1999 he received the National Medal of Technology and in 2011, the Japan Prize for Information and Communications.

Dennis once quoted "UNIX is very simple, it just needs a genius to understand its simplicity", and Dennis certainly was a genius.

R.I.P Dennis, you will be missed by many people.
