Colonel Gaddafi has died say Libyan Officials

NATO planes attacked a convoy seen leaving his hometown of Sirte

Toppled Libyan leader Colonel Muhammar Gaddafi has reportedly died after suffering from wounds in both his legs and being shot in his head.

Libyan National Transitional Official Abdel Mlegta said that Gaddafi was captured and badly wounded when NATO planes attacked a convoy seen leaving his hometown of Sirte, a town where many believe he has been hiding for many weeks.

An official said "He was also hit in his head, there was a lot of firing against his group and he died".

If the reports are true, then this finally puts an end to his 42 year hold on Libya.

Gaddafi, who was born on the 7th June 1942 was the former Prime Minister of Libya and held his seat in office from the 16th of January 1970 until the 16th July 1972, Gaddafi has 8 sons and 2 daughters, he was part of the Arab Socialist Union between 1971 and 1977.

The Libyan people have reported to have been honking their horns and firing guns into the air in celebration of this news.
