It is not known if the band will preform on the night the night as they are no longer together. After their first split, Blur briefly reformed in the summer of 2009 for a series of high profile outdoor shows including Hyde Park and Glastonbury but then split afterwards. Fans are hopeful that they will preform together on the night at the O2 arena where the awards are being held.
Graham Coxon, Guitarist for the band claims that the band have not changed over the years. "We're the same gang we ever were, we've just landed in a different era. Or possibly we're a totally different Blur still playing the old tunes in 1991 forever. I haven't decided." Graham added "But it's always nice to get a Brit Award".
The band saw previous success at the Brit Awards in 1995 when at the height of the Britpop boom they won awards for best album, best single, best video and best group.
The designer of this year's Brit Awards statue is Sir Peter Blake who is known for his collage cover of the Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. Sir Paul McCartney formerly of The Beatles is a past winner of the outstanding contribution award along with Oasis and Paul Weller. Next years full Brit Awards nominations list will be announced on the 12th of January at the Savoy Hotel in London.
Well done boys :)
