Boys' fight in cage: What's the big deal?

Held at a Labour club in Preston earlier this month

A cage-fighting event where two young boys aged eight and nine took battle inside a cage has been headlined as an outrage, whilst others regard it as a healthy, harmless activity.

After seeing video of the boys' fight, held at a Labour club in Preston earlier this month, Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt said it "feels very barbaric" and acknowledged that if children took part "some people will ask some questions".

Lancashire Police have released a statement saying they will ask no more questions regarding the event - officers had "looked into this matter fully and there are no issues for us to pursue".

There was no punching, kicking or submissions allowed, meaning it was a well disciplined fight. Maybe the environment it was held in didn't help? The cage, the cheering crowds but what we do know is, these young boys were not on the street causing any grief they were enjoying a hobby have interest in whilst learning discipline.

Right or wrong, no-body can say. It's just a matter of opinion.
