Beatles attend George Harrison film premiere

It will be shown on the BBC and on HBO after a limited cinema release

The surviving Beatles paid tribute to George Harrison at the London premiere of Martin Scorseses's new documentary about his life.

Sir Paul McCartney called the guitarist, who died in 2001, "A great man" and "an all-round good boy".

Scorseses said he was drawn to George's lyrics because of the way they had been written and the stories behind them.

"For years, his music seemed to be dealing with themes that I can connected with".

"I found comfort in them and a hope and a special experience listening to his music. I was fascinated by him."

Harrisons love for India has helped change the western culture says The award winning director.

"George was the one to open our minds to this, that this could be of value to you in your life, to you and everyone you love. His music really expresses that."

The documentary will be shown on the BBC and on HBO in the US after a limited cinema release.

The film, titled George Harrison: Living in the material world, has been split into two halves. The first being The Beatles rise to fame, then the story of Harrisons solo years, in music and film.
