Arctic Monkeys is a BAD name says Turner

I've no idea where it came from, it was Jamie's fault

Arctic Monkeys front-man Alex Turner has told Q Magazine in an interview that he thinks the name "Arctic Monkeys" is a bad name for a band, but it was the first one they came up with.

Turner told Q Magazine "I've no idea where it came from, it was Jamie's fault, he came up with it and he has never even told us why. If he even knows, he's keeping it a secret from me".

He went on to say "This is the first band I've been in. A lot of people in bands have a few goes at it before they find the one that works but with us, we all started playing guitar and everything at the same time.

There might have been other ideas for offshoots at the time, but the Monkeys was the first one. It sound like a first band name, doesn't it? It's so bad that the tribute bands don't sound worse. I saw there's an Aertex Monkeys, that's pretty clever".

The Arctic Monkeys are a four piece band which formed in 2002 in High Green, Sheffield, their debut album "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" is still the fastest-selling debut album in British music history. They are most famous for their track "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor".

The Arctic Monkeys kick off their UK tour tonight and if you can get tickets, then we highly recommend you go check them out.
