28.7m watch Charlie Sheen exit Two and a Half Men

The audience last night was nearly double the 14.65m viewers

Last night, the killing off of Charlie sheen was watched by more than 28.7 Million people across the US, there highest viewing since it began in 2003.

Charlie Harper, the character played by Charlie Sheen, was apparently killed by a metro train in Paris, what a way to go for Charlie Eh?

The season nine opener began with the funeral of Sheen's character, the episode also introduced newly appointed Ashton Kutcher who has replaced Sheen.

Sheen was fired from the show after drug abuse and criticism towards the producers of the show.

The audience last night was nearly double the 14.65m viewers that tuned in when the show first went live last year.

Viewers saw Sheen's TV funeral attended by his past girlfriends and fiancee, who eventually revealed how he had died.

"Kutcher's performance was good, nearly as poker-faced fine as Sheen's was... Kutcher will probably prove just as skilled," wrote Entertainment Weekly's Ken Tucker.

So what do you think? Can Kutcher replace Sheen? We'll soon find out..
