5 minutes with Louis Hale

"The energy we display on stage sets us apart from a lot of bands"

In the Fit4Talent interview room today we are joined by Louis Hale from top band Martyr De Mona.

Frist please tell me you rolls in Martyr De Mona?
I'm Louis Hale, Vocals/Guitar. Si Blewitt plays Guitar/Vocals, Kirk Shuttleworth plays Drums/Vocals. We're currently looking for a bassist after Michael Rigg left the band just after New Year due to other commitments.

So how did Martyr De Mona begin?
Martyr de Mona was formed in early 2007 after myself and Si Blewitt had been playing in a band for a few years under a different name. A change in musical style and band personnel made us take the decision to re-invent ourselves as mDm.

What do you think makes you stand out from other bands?
I think the variety of our material is rare at the moment, it's difficult to pigeon hole us. Even now when people ask us how we would describe our sound, we struggle to explain ourselves! Also, I think our live show, and the energy we display on stage sets us apart from a lot of bands.

What/who Influences you?
Our list of influences is endless really! Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses, Alice In Chains, Mastodon, Avenged Sevenfold, Alter Bridge, Black Sabbath, Pearl Jam, Helmet, Megadeth etc etc.

What do you think the Future holds for Martyr De Mona?
I would like to think the future is bright for us, whether that means earning a living at what we do or going global, I don't know. We just want to push the band as hard as we can and see how far we can take it. I think we've got something really special and I have a good feeling about the future.

What would you like to be in three years with Martyr De Mona?
I think the next three years will make or break us. I would like to see us signed by a major label, playing some big festivals, selling loads of album and supporting some of our heroes!

Do you have any up and coming gigs?
We have a UK tour planned for April and have got a few warm-up gigs booked at Ye Olde Foundry in Dudley on 12th February? and 23rd March and the Rose and Crown in Wordsley, Stourbridge on 8th March.

Do you have any way someone can get in touch with the band?
People can get in touch with us at www.martyrdemona.com, there's links to all of our social networking sites, our online store and youtube.

Thank you for taking the time to talk with us Louis, good luck with everything.
